MANNFORD, Okla. (AP) -
Authorities say they've identified suspects in the wildfires that burned
more than 90 square miles in Creek County.
Authorities believe the
fires were sparked by a lit cigarette that was dropped on the ground.
Tulsa television station KOTV reports that investigators have identified three suspects in the case.
The fires destroyed more
than 380 homes in the county. The sheriff's office says the
investigation continues and that those responsible could face arson
charges.
Authorities say
investigators initially believed that the fires started on tribal land -
meaning the Bureau of Indian Affairs would head up the investigation.
But BIA says their investigation shows the fire started on private
property.
No one has been arrested yet.
