First confirmed WNV case in Comanche County

COMANCHE COUNTY, Okla_Updated numbers from the Oklahoma Health Department show that 62 people have been hospitalized due to the West Nile Virus, including one confirmed hospitalization in Comanche County.

Overall, there have been 72 confirmed cases of the disease in the state leading to the 62 hospitalizations. The number of deaths in the state has not changed in the last week and remains at three deaths in the state.

Nationally, the outbreak has stretched to 16 states and over 1,100 confirmed cases.

The health department continues to recommend that people remove any standing water from their property and to use repellant containing deet to protect yourself.
