OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An
attorney for an Oklahoma man accused in the death of a man whose
dismembered body was found in several cement-filled buckets says his
client was acting in self-defense.
A brief hearing was held
Friday in Garvin County District Court in Pauls Valley for 30-year-old
Justin Hammer, who's charged with first-degree murder.
Hammer has pleaded not
guilty to the charge that he killed Brandon Duran on Aug. 7, then
dismembered the body and put it in buckets that were thrown into a pond
on Hammer's property. Authorities say Duran was the ex-boyfriend of
Hammer's girlfriend.
Defense attorney Garvin
Isaacs says Hammer acted in self-defense and shot Duran after Duran
broke into his home and threatened him.
Prosecutors have not said whether they plan to seek the death penalty.
