USDA works with New Mexico dairy farmers

Posted: Updated:

New Mexico - A contract with the USDA is designed to help city and county entities in New Mexico with predator issues.

The Department of Agriculture has saved dairy operations in Roosevelt and Curry County millions of dollars by disposing of coyotes.

Last fiscal year more than 90,000 dollars were saved by capturing and killing coyotes in Roosevelt County, and 1.1 million dollars in Curry County.

Along with euthanizing coyotes for dairies, USDA officials also provide suggestions for keeping livestock safe from predators.
