Fort Sill, OK_ After years off the field, former NFL player Thomas Williams shared his story with Fort Sill soldiers.
Williams spoke at a leadership seminar Thursday on the importance of moving on after a major life event. He told soldiers about how a neck injury forced him to retire from a game that he loved, all to encourage the soldiers to never give up.
"I've seen the hours that they put in, the drills that they do, and this is not for them. This is for us, as far as our freedom, and I'm really thankful even more so," Thomas said.
Friday, Thomas will get a taste of life as a Fort Sill soldier. He plans to participate in PT drills and other Army activities.
Thomas said the experience has given him a greater appreciation for the U.S. Military.
