LHS put on lockdown for short time

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_A brief lock down took place at Lawton High Friday morning. A spokesman said someone driving by the school thought they saw a person with a long knife on or near the school grounds.

The call came in around 11.

Lawton High administrators put the school into immediate lockdown as a precautionary measure. School police and several members of the Lawton Police Department thoroughly searched the school grounds and reviewed surveillance footage but couldn't find any indication that anyone unauthorized entered school grounds.

As a precaution, LPS increased its presence on campus for the remainder of the day. The school district and its police force said it's grateful to the Lawton police for its help  and its rapid response.
