Clarendon woman pleads guilty to charge after grandson's death

Posted: Updated:

Clarendon, TX - A Clarendon woman is placed on probation for ten years after her grandson is beaten to death.

The 100th District Attorney's Office says Gayle Edes pleaded guilty to the charge of injury to a child by omission.

Edes was indicted for the charge because officials say she did not seek medical care for her grandson after he was severely beaten in 2011.

Edes' son Robert Babcock was sentenced to life in prison without parole in June for the death of four-year-old Chance Mark Jones.

Along with probation Edes is ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and serve 90 days in jail.
