House fire in Altus sends 1 woman to hospital

ALTUS, Okla_An Altus woman is in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital after suffering smoke inhalation during a fire Wednesday morning. Fire officials say they were called to a home in the 1000 block of East Cypress a little before 1 a.m. on reports of thick black smoke coming from a home.

Authorities say the woman had saved her son from the smoke but went back in to save a family pet.

Authorities are still investigating how the fire started. There is still no word on where the son is now or if the pet is okay.
