LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - The second murder trial of a Lawton man in the death of an alleged robbery partner is scheduled to start.
The Lawton-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/SclVT9
) that jury selection is to begin Monday in Comanche County District
Court in the first-degree murder trial of Jeffery Karr for the Sept. 25,
2009, shooting death of 34-year-old Michael Wermy.
Court and police records
say Karr, Wermy and another person were attempting to rob a northwest
Lawton home when Wermy was shot in the face and killed when a gun that
Karr was using to beat 1 of the robbery victims accidentally fired.
Karr has pleaded not guilty.
A previous trial ended in mistrial when the jury could not reach unanimous agreement on a verdict.
