Duncan man killed at cattle sale

Posted: Updated:

WAURIKA, Okla_A man was killed in a freak accident at a cattle auction in Waurika.

Kenny Wall was a longtime worker there and his friends say he knew cattle better than most, which makes his death even harder to understand.

Kenny died doing what he loved and what he was best at auctioning cattle. But Tuesday's auction took a tragic turn.

For some reason, the cow Kenny Wall was leading into the ring got agitated. The massive animal pinned Wall into a metal gate. He couldn't escape and was crushed. There was a nurse in the crowd who tried to save his life until help arrived, but his injuries were just too severe. He died shortly after.

Waurika residents say his presence will be missed at work, and around town. He wasn't from Waurika, he was actually from Stephens County, but during the week he was a regular at the convenience store. A woman inside said nearly everyday he would come in, grab a bite to eat, and chat with her.

Kenny worked at the sale barn in Waurika for about a decade, sorting cattle and doing maintenance work. His fellow employees described him as a wonderful worker, and an even better friend.

We tried speaking with the Waurika police, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the ambulance service in town, but no one wanted to comment on such a tragic accident.
