TABC investigates allegations against former RRHS band director

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is investigating a former River Road High School band director on allegations he provided alcohol to minors.

Melvin Evans resigned from his position in late September after reports that he permitted minors to drink at his home.

Supplying alcohol to minors is a Class A misdemeanor, which carries a sentence of up to one year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.

The TABC is currently gathering witness statements and says the investigation could take 30 to 60 days.
