UPDATE: Police arrest man suspected of stealing car with one month old infant in back seat

Police have arrested a man suspected of stealing a car with a one month old infant in the back seat.

38-year-old Allen Wayne Compton was arrested in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Hobbs Police Department said Compton was in possession of stolen property and was also wanted on a parole violation warrant out of California.

Compton is also a registered sex offender in California.

He is currently being held at the Lea County Detention center in Lovington, New Mexico.
