Lawton- A former presidential candidate and U.S. Senator from Oklahoma will be in Lawton Friday.
Cotton County native Fred Harris is the keynote speaker for the Comanche County Democratic Party's "Democratic Gathering." Organizers say the event is for anyone interested in the future of local, state and federal government policies and the current challenges Oklahomans are facing.
Harris ran unsuccessfully for Oklahoma governor in 1962 before he was elected to the U.S. Senate. He made two bids for the White House, but failed to win his party's nomination.
The "Democratic Gathering" is free and open to the public Friday night at 7 p.m. in Cameron University's Shepler Center Ballroom.
