Comanche County to undergo routine audit

Posted: Updated:

COMANCHE COUNTY, Okla_The Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector's Office is looking into the county's books, but it's not a bad thing.

It's standard operating procedure and meant to see where money is going. State officials announced that starting Monday, they will be auditing the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 financial statements.

They will conduct two regulatory financial statement audits and a FEMA-money audit. Auditors will check the county's cash receipts, bids, inventory, deposits and even check for any signs of fraud.

Officials say the audit process has changed this year so they're asking every elected official to fill out a questionnaire so they can assess what each department needs and to also get a feel of how the departments run and it'll happen sooner than later.

The departments have 12 days to return them.
