Amarillo, TX - Amarillo police arrested two men Friday evening (Oct. 5) in connection with a robbery.

Police say around 8:30, officers responded to the Walmart at I-40 & Grand on a reported robbery.

A victim on scene said a man approached her asking for help locating the owner of a cell phone. When she got out of her car, the man lunged at her and attacked her, forcibly taking her purse.

The man ran into a waiting vehicle, which police located and stopped a short time later.

31 year-old Steve Martinez of El Paso was booked into the Potter County Jail on charges of robbery, evading arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The driver of the vehicle was also booked on unrelated traffic warrants.
