Okla. governor to kick off annual food drive

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin is kicking off her third annual Feeding Oklahoma Food and Fund Drive.

Fallin plans to launch the month-long event Thursday at the Regional Food Bank in Oklahoma City. The governor's goal this year is to raise enough food and money to provide about 1.2 million meals to Oklahomans in need.

The governor is partnering with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma City and the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

Fallin made the initial food drive part of her inaugural activities after her election in 2010. She has since made the drive an annual event.
