Okla. Aeronautics Comm. approves $411K in grants

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission has approved a pair of grants to help fund airport projects in Woodward and Ponca City.

The commission announced Thursday it has approved a $400,000 capital improvement grant to help rebuild taxiways and taxi lanes at the West Woodward Regional Airport. It also announced an $11,000 grant to help Ponca City Regional Airport pay for its annual flight academy.

The Woodward project involves $44,500 in matching funds from the city. Officials there say deterioration of airport pavements there have caused loose asphalt and concrete that has the potential to damage aircraft.

The commission's Capital Improvement Program offers grants to airports in the state for a variety of infrastructure improvements, including runway maintenance and construction.
