Secretary of State Hillary Clinton takes blame for Libya attack

Lima, Peru_Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is taking the blame for the deadly assault on the U-S diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya. The attack killed Chris Stevens, the U-S ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans at the consulate.

Clinton said President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions.

"I take responsibility for what happened on September 11," Clinton said after arriving in Lima, Peru for a visit.
During last week's debate, Biden said the White House didn't know about requests for more security at Benghazi. That contradicted testimony by State Department employees that requests had been made -- and were rejected.

Clinton said she wanted to "avoid some kind of political gotcha," because the presidential election is so close.
