Man pleads guilty to murdering his drug dealers

Posted: Updated:

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A San Antonio construction worker has agreed to life imprisonment and pleaded guilty to murder in the fatal stabbings of 2 people from whom he bought drugs.

The San Antonio Express-News reports Elijah Jon Lucero had been accused of selling his boss' tools to finance a cocaine and heroin spree and stabbed his dealers to death when he tried to retrieve the items the next day. He had been charged with capital murder in the deaths of Daniela Medrano and Edward Cisneros, but prosecutors had declined to seek the death penalty.

The agreed plea Monday by the 32-year-old Lucero leaves him eligible for parole after 30 years.

Medrano's two young children found their mother's bloody body and that of Cisneros in her apartment in February 2011.
