Stepson arrested in Shawnee man's death

Posted: Updated:

SHAWNEEE, Okla. (AP) - Police in Shawnee say the stepson of a man found stabbed to death in his burned home has been arrested on murder and arson complaints.

Shawnee Police Chief Russell Frantz told The Shawnee News-Star http://bit.ly/RzTUTL that 22-year-old Joseph Neay has been arrested for the death of 45-year-old Marty Lee Jones.

Neay has been jailed pending the filing of formal charges. Online court documents do not list an attorney for Neay.

The police chief says Jones' body was found inside the partially burned home Friday after a postal carrier reported smoke coming from the house.

Frantz says Jones' body has been sent to the state crime lab to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
