Oklahoma CNG rebates to decrease due to demand

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An overwhelming response is prompting Oklahoma Natural Gas to reduce the dollar amount of rebates offered to people who buy compressed natural gas fueling systems or vehicles.

Oklahoma Natural Gas says it's reducing the amount of the rebates beginning Nov. 26 because of "exceptionally strong demand" in the program.

The program provides for rebates of up to $2,500 for the purchase of a natural gas-fueled vehicle or for the installation of residential compressed natural gas fueling systems. A separate rebate of up to $1,500 is offered for so-called "dual fuel" vehicles that use both natural gas and gasoline.

After Nov. 26, those amounts drop to $1,000 for a CNG vehicle, $500 for a dual fuel vehicle and $1,000 for a residential home-fueling system.
