Lawton, Okla._The man charged with shooting his neighbor and shouting racial slurs at him in October 2010 was sentenced Monday. Larry Parkinson was sentenced to 5 years, with 4 of them suspended. Parkinson had entered a plea of no contest in September.
The victim of the shooting, Victor McClester says he is not satisfied with the sentencing and feels Parkinson's punishment should have been heavier.
"I think he shoulda got more time, if you try and kill somebody, you should get at least 25 to life," McClester said.
Parkinson allegedly shouted racial slurs at McClester before getting a shotgun from his house and shooting several times at McClester's home.
McClester was injured so badly in the shooting he was in the hospital for over a month. The case had originally gone to trial in June, but ended in a mistrial when the jury failed to reach a verdict.
