US Senate position in New Mexico

Posted: Updated:

New Mexico - The US Senate race in New Mexico was predicted to be a tight race, and it has been.

The candidates were neck in neck for a majority of the race, but Democrat Martin Heinrich has won the seat.

Republican Heather Wilson was holding the lead towards the beginning of the race, but as that lead evaporated, Heinrich eventually edged past her.

He won with just over 50 percent of the vote in the state.

Wilson took a little more than 45 percent of the vote.
