We looked more into what it could mean for the state of Texas if it did indeed secede. What we found out wasn't positive for Texas or any other state with that notion.

Following Election Day, citizens from all over the country have begun taking measures into their own hands by filing state petitions asking to secede from the United States.

This new online option is spreading like wildfire.

There are now 20 state petitions, including one from Texas, that have requested the Obama Administration grant a peaceful withdrawal from the United States.

5 petitions were filed Sunday.

Texas is leading with the most amount of signatures.

It had nearly 4,000 signatures early Sunday morning and by Monday morning, that number jumped to over 15,000.

More signatures are being added by the minute.

Each petition must receive 25,000 signatures within 30 days for the Obama Administration to consider the request.

The White House staff will then review the petition, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts and then issue an official response.
