Man attempting to steal gas hits station manager

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_A gas station clerk was hit by a car Monday in Lawton by a driver who was trying to take off without paying for gas.

It happened at a station at Southeast 1st and Lee.

An attendant said the driver had done the same thing about a week ago. This time, the worker recognized the car and told the manager.

When the manager came out, the driver took off and hit the manager who was able to get the tag number of the vehicle.

But a few minutes later, the driver returned, saying he was going to pay for the gas. But the manager kept the driver from leaving and police arrested him when they arrived.

The station manager was not seriously injured in the incident.
