Groundbreaking Tuesday for Lawton's 2nd Street Hotel/Conference Center

Posted: Updated:

Lawton- Lawton city and business leaders plan to mark a milestone in the 2nd Street Re-development project Tuesday morning. A groundbreaking ceremony for the new hotel and conference center is set for 11:30 a.m.

Officials say it will be an upscale convention and banquet facility that will serve the community. According to previous reports, the center will be finished within 15-months.

You may remember officials are also planning a new retail development on second street as well. It will reportedly include stores such as Kohl's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Dick's Sporting Goods and other national chains. Construction for that project is set to begin sometime next year.

We'll have complete coverage of the hotel and conference center groundbreaking Tuesday night on 7NEWS.
