Lawton woman changes plea in child endangerment case

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_New information in the case of a Lawton woman who was charged with D.U.I. and Child Endangerment after she crashed her car with her two young kids inside.

The crash happened more than two years ago. The driver, Brandy Martinez, had originally pleaded not guilty, but last week, she changed her plea. The D.A. dropped two of the three charges filed against her in the case.

Martinez was driving on South Sheridan when she went off the road, through a fence, and into a field. She told officers she was texting, but they later determined she was driving under the influence.  Fortunately, her children, a three-month old and a six-year old, were not seriously injured.

Martinez will be sentenced in January.
