Local high school seniors recognized by National Merit

Lawton, Okla._Lawton Public Schools honored 4 high school seniors for a tremendous achievement.

All 4 have been selected as Semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The students were recognized at a meeting of the Lawton Board of Education Thursday.

The honorees are Michael Felder, Jennifer Saville, Stephen McCray and Pryce Michener. One of the students -- Michael Felder -- was also named a National Hispanic Scholar.

Lawton public schools superintendent Barry Beauchamp presented each of the students with certificates.

He says this recognition puts the 4 seniors in the top 1% of students performing nationally.
