Lawton Police Department veterans honored at retirement

Posted: Updated:

Lawton_After just over a quarter of a century dedicated to the Lawton Police Department and Crimestoppers, two long-time detectives said farewell during a retirement ceremony Friday.

One after another, colleagues and friends shared memories working with Lawton Police Detectives Brent Yarbrough and Brian Ball. The two have led the Crimestoppers and Drug Busters investigation teams for several years and recently made the bittersweet decision to
retire.

"There's friends that I've made for a lifetime that I see maybe riding my motorcycle or at church or wherever in the streets, people I've met and worked cases for that I know personally and we are now friends, so it's not a farewell. It's just an, 'Adios. I'll see ya around' type deal," Yarbrough said.

Both detectives say they'll be a part of the Lawton Police Department as long as they live and will miss seeing their extended family on a daily basis. Co-workers say the two will be sorely missed.
