Believers Way Church donates 2,800 food items to Salvation Army

Posted: Updated:

In addition to Saturday's toy donation from the Tripp's Harley-Davidson toy run, the Salvation Army received another hefty donation, this one in the form of food.

Members of the Believers Way Church in Amarillo loaded box after box of non-perishable food items into a truck after church services Sunday. Food that will all be donated directly to the Salvation Army to help feed the people they serve on a daily basis, as well as during their Thanksgiving Day meal. Organizers say this is the third year their church has participated in this, and they couldn't be more excited about the response.

"Its just our joy as a congregation, to be in Amarillo and share the love of God, and to reach out to people in need," said Scott Johnson, Senior Paster at the church. "We were able to raise over 2,800 food items, to the Salvation Army it was great to partner with them, and to be in a place where we could reach out to our community, and help meet the needs of people."

Believers Way Church in Amarillo is located at 6201 Canyon Drive.
