OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -
Prosecutors have charged a 52-year-old Oklahoma man with first-degree
murder in the death of his 77-year-old mother.
Prosecutors filed the
charges Monday against Gerald David Hume in the death of Janet Hume.
Officers arrested Hume on Nov. 14 after an 11-hour standoff in Oklahoma
City.
Authorities say the
standoff began when Gerald Hume refused to open the door for officers
conducting a welfare check. Police say authorities found Janet Hume dead
inside the home when they entered.
An affidavit says Janet Hume died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Gerald Hume was charged
with one count of first-degree murder, one count of desecration of a
human corpse and two counts of feloniously pointing a weapon. He remains
jailed without bond and court records do not list an attorney.
