Jason White comes to Lawton to read to youth

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla_It's not every day Eisenhower Middle School students get to meet a Heisman Trophy winner in the middle of reading class, but that's what happened Monday.

Not only did they get to meet the University of Oklahoma quarterback and 2003 Heisman winner, but White actually hung out with the students as their "mystery reader."

"Reading is the most underrated thing in the world. There's so much knowledge by reading a book, words you've never seen, so much knowledge. Kids are getting away from it with all the video games and things that are out there."

White said he's no stranger to Lawton, his business brings him to this part of the state regularly and is always happy to visit the young people.
