Father arrested after toddler dies in Tahlequah

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) - Police in Tahlequah arrested a 19-year-old man on a manslaughter complaint after his toddler daughter was found unresponsive in a car Monday night.

Police say emergency crews were sent to Norris Park around 9 p.m. Monday. Authorities say paramedics attempted to revive the 18-month-old girl but she later died at a hospital.

Reports say that police say the toddler had a very high core body temperature. Authorities say the car was running and the heater was on but the father had been outside of the vehicle.

The National Weather Service says it was about 50 degrees at 9 p.m. in Tahlequah on Monday.

The father, who hasn't been formally charged, was arrested on complaints of child neglect or endangerment and second-degree manslaughter.
