Lawton Taxi Driver Shot

Posted: Updated:

LAWTON, Okla._

Lawton Police are investigating the shooting of a Lawton cab driver after he was shot twice by his own customers late Wednesday night.

Police said the driver picked up two juvenile Hispanic males near 67th and Maple Street before driving them to a location near 69th and Southwest 70th.

The cab driver told police he was reaching for change for the fare when he was shot in the neck.

Police said the driver was shot a second time after he chased after the suspects and then got back in his taxi and drove to a local hospital.

The driver is expected to recover.

Police don't believe robbery was the motive since nothing was taken.

No arrests have been made.
