Alleged shoplifter dies after Walmart altercation

Lithonia, GA - Two Walmart employees have been suspended and a contract security guard has been fired after the death of an alleged shoplifter.

Authorities say the four got into a tussle in the store's parking lot Sunday morning after the middle-aged man took two DVD players.

By the time police arrived, the man was unresponsive after being placed in a choke hold by the guard.

A Walmart spokesperson noted the investigation has only just begun but said, "no amount of merchandise is worth someone's life."
