Duncan auction raising money for better holidays

Posted: Updated:

DUNCAN Okla_ The Duncan Rotary Club is making the holiday season even brighter for those in need, auctioning off items and using the proceeds to clothe local kids.

It's all a part of the Jaycee's Rotary Christmas Auction that's been going strong for 55 years.

The chair of the Jaycee's Rotary Christmas Auction Haylee Root says all of the bidders' generosity benefits their own community.

"What I love about this annual event is that all of that money stays local. This is a 100% locally funded event."

The Rotary Club says they've received about $40,000 worth of donations from local merchants.

After the auction, the group will hold a shopping day December 8th. The group hopes to provide clothing for at least 400 kids.
