LPS confirms school uniforms permanent for elementary schools

LAWTON Okla_ Lawton Public Schools
administrators have made if official: school uniforms will be permanent dress
attire for some elementary school children.
Students at Woodland
Hills, Edison, Pioneer Park, and Sullivan
Village Elementary
Schools will continue wearing uniforms. All four
schools were part of a pilot program that began last December.
The youngsters wore khaki slacks and polo-style
shirts. At a recent school board meeting, school children and teachers reportedly
told officials how much they enjoyed the new look.
The district is
not requiring other schools to follow suit, but if any school wants to change
its dress code to the khaki-and-polo shirt look, the district will back the
effort.
