Marlow man in jail for first degree rape of 13-year-old girl

Posted: Updated:

MARLOW Okla_ A Marlow man is charged with first degree rape after police say he admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Court records show Austin Trent Fowler, 18, told officers he had been dating the girl for several weeks. Police say the two had sex when they were staying the night at a friend's apartment last weekend in Marlow. Officers took Fowler into custody earlier this week when he showed up at Marlow Middle School to see the girl. They arrested him for statutory rape, but prosecutors upgraded the charge to first degree rape with a victim under 14.

At last check, Fowler was in the Stephens County jail on $50,000 bond. His preliminary court hearing is set for January.
