OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Authorities in Oklahoma County are searching for whoever threw a German shepherd off a highway bridge.
The dog, which wore a
collar identifying him as "Rookie," is in critical condition with a
fractured leg and internal bleeding. The Oklahoma County Sheriff's
Office says the dog was thrown from a bridge on Southeast 59th Street
and onto Interstate 40 on Wednesday.
A police report says a
truck driver witnessed the incident. Authorities contacted the owner
listed on the dog's collar, who said she had given the dog to someone
else.
The Humane Society of the
United States is covering all veterinary costs for Rookie and is
offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and
conviction.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office.
