Ft. Sill Tree Lighting Ceremony

Posted: Updated:

Ft. Sill, Okla._Post held it's annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday. In true military fashion, they kicked the event off with a bang from cannons that fired as the tree lit up.

Hundreds of families turned out to see the lights and to catch a glimpse of jolly Saint Nick.

This time of year is a favorite among many on post, and military spokesperson Donald Fryc said the fun wont stop there.

"Think of it as an all you can eat buffet of joy. Because there is literally something happening every day. Where the Team Sill families and the greater community can come take part in the more traditional things of this time of the season and then all of the things that happen with our soldiers that are more routine but pretty exciting every day," Fryc said.

Thursday night's event was complete with a visit from Santa Clause, crafts, hot cocoa and performances by children from both elementary schools on post.
