Student arrested in shooting death of Okla. teen

Posted: Updated:

ASHER, Okla. (AP) _ Authorities in Pottawatomie County have arrested an 18-year-old man in the shooting death of a college student.

Sheriff Mike Booth says 18-year-old Generro Sanchez was found dead in a ditch near Asher on Thursday. Authorities say he was a student at East Central University.

The sheriff says Jerrod Murray, who is also an ECU student, has been arrested on a first-degree murder complaint in the death.

An affidavit alleges that Murray told investigators that he ``wanted to go kill somebody.''

The News-Star reports (http://is.gd/PDTRIe ) that authorities arrested Murray while he was walking on U.S. 177 shortly after the shooting. The affidavit claims that Murray targeted Sanchez because he ``didn't have many friends.''

Murray remains jailed. Authorities did not know if he had an attorney.
