NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - An Oklahoma football player is due in court next week on a felony drug charge.
Cornerback Joe Powell has a preliminary conference set for Dec.
18 on one felony charge of unlawful possession of a controlled drug with
intent to deliver.
Norman police arrested Powell on Oct 8 after he was
allegedly linked to a FedEx package from California that contained four
pounds of marijuana.
An OU spokesman says Powell has been suspended from the team since his arrest.
Powell is the third Sooner player to face drug
charges this fall. Wide receiver Jalen Saunders and defensive back
Cortez Johnson were charged this month with misdemeanor marijuana
possession. They are due in court Jan. 8.
