Motorcycle Club donates to the Lawton Food Bank

Posted: Updated:

Lawton, Okla._The shelves at the Lawton Food Bank got their fill on Thursday thanks to a hefty donation from group of motorcycle riders.

The Forgotten Soldiers Motorcycle Club held a food drive in front of several Lawton businesses Thursday. They ended up collecting over one-thousand dollars worth of food.

"I think it was a positive thing. I think we would like to continue this and it was a great thing to be able to help the community," said Forgotten Soldier member James "Doc" Nix.

Food bank officials say this donation could not have come at a better time because so many families are in need this time of year.

"This food will do much to make sure that we make it to the end of the month and possibly on to the first of January," Lawton Food Bank Secretary Pattie Bowden said.

The Fallen Soldiers dropped off their donation to the food bank Thursday night which ended up being over a half ton of food.
