Panhandle Angels Foundation raises money for sick children

A group of angels entertained some 200 in Amarillo Sunday.

The Panhandle Angels Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps families of children with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders. Sunday was the group's annual Christmas Party at the Ambassador Hotel where some 90 kids and their families gathered, in costume, to eat and enjoy some Christmas entertainment. Organizers say it's a wonderful event that helps so many sick children in our area create special holiday memories.

"This year we had 98 children about half of them actually have cancer or battling cancer and about the other half are the siblings," said Kristina Hudson, event coordinator. "Because it's not just the kids that go through it, the whole family goes through it."

This Christmas party is the biggest event the foundation hosts each year, raising money to help the families of these children year round.
