Salvation Army Kettle Stolen in Lawton

Posted: Updated:

Lawton, Okla._Another Salvation Army Kettle was stolen Tuesday in west Lawton. Captain Ernest Hull said this one was taken from outside the west-side Walmart.

He said the bell ringer had just turned her back, and the thief unchained the kettle from its stand and ran off. A Walmart customer gave chase, but couldn't catch him.

Police combed the neighborhood just south of the store, but have not found anything. Captain Hull said the kettle likely had $500 in it.

Three weeks ago, a kettle was taken from the Country Mart on 67th.
