Altus_ The City Council and city officials are concerned about the dwindling water supply and are currently working on a water restriction ordinance to ease that.
The ordinance would split the town into eastern and western halves, and would alternate which days they could water outside, as well as other restrictions.
Mayor David Webb says the city council is also looking at another water source. Webb says the city could tap into the "Round Timber" well field south of the city. That was the city's main water source before the Tom Steed Reservoir was built, which currently stands at 37 percent of its capacity.
That water now is sold and piped to towns in Texas.
