Lawton woman crashes into restaurant sign

Lawton,Okla._A Lawton woman's late-night fast-food run after a night of drinking ended with a trip to jail. The restaurant's manager told police when the woman's car rolled slowly up to the drive-through window at the Whataburger on Northwest Cache Road around 3:00 Thursday morning. She could see the driver was asleep. Her car continued to roll forward and ended up crashing into the signpost in front of the store.

A customer helped steer the car into a parking spot until police arrived. The driver, identified as Jennifer Finch, told police she had only had two beers. She was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated. Court records show that Finch has been charged with D-U-I twice before.

An Oklahoma Forestry Services task force is joining the fight against a wildfire in Kiowa County. It's burning about 17 miles southwest of Quartz Mountain State Park. They're calling it the "Flat Top" fire. The last update shows the fire has consumed about 70 acres. The O.F.S. says the biggest problem is that fire is burning in rough terrain. Local fire departments, including Blair and Martha are among those fighting it.
