Local church hosts Christmas Eve in the Park

LAWTON Okla_ A local church celebrated "Christmas Eve in the Park" this afternoon for the second straight year.

Members of First Baptist Church in Lawton cooked hamburgers and chili for the community and even handed out toys to the kids.

"We just thought the day before Christmas that we would just feed the homeless people," church member Dr. Dan Horton said. "Feed the needy people or just the people in that area as an outreach for the church to show our love for them and to show Christ's love for them."

Horton says the idea to celebrate Christmas Eve in the Park started a year ago as an outreach for the church. They wanted to minister to both the spiritual and physical needs of the community.
