Anti-Corruption Legislation in New Mexico

Posted: Updated:

New Mexico - Many house members and senators in New Mexico are already proposing new legislation for the session that begins January 15th.

One of those bills is aimed at discouraging bribery, kickbacks and other activities that have caused scandal in state government in the past several years.

It would allow judges to add a year to the sentences of public officials convicted of specified corruption-related crimes.

It would also bar those convicted of these crimes from becoming lobbyists or being awarded government contracts.
