Elgin man charged with assault with a deadly weapon

Elgin, OKla- An Elgin man is in Comanche County jail Monday night after being accused of attacking a man with a knife over the weekend.

According to a Sheriff's report, an Elgin couple told deputies that Carroll Britton had attacked them while they were sleeping Saturday night. They said Britton came into the house and started shouting and kicking the mattress they were sleeping on. One of the victims told Carroll to "take the fight outside" but as they walked through the kitchen, Britton allegedly grabbed a knife and tried to stab the man in the chest.

The two started fighting and Britton allegedly knocked over a high chair with an eight-month old baby still sitting in it. The victim says he cut his palm on the knife during the struggle and then  Britton drove away. Deputies stopped Britton on the turnpike and arrested him for assault with a deadly weapon and driving under suspension.
